(Telecompaper) Alibaba has announced it is working with HP and Intel to launch a tablet computer running YunOS. The 'YunOS Book' tablet will include features targeted at the education market. Acording to YunOS officials, YunOS is now live on more than 100 million mobile devices, smart home appliances, smart TVs and a humanoid robot.

Amazon launches USD 90 quad-core Fire HD 8 tablet

(Telecompaper) Amazon has announced the launch of the latest tablet in its Fire range, promising faster performance together with access to the company's new voice-based assistant, Alexa. The Fire HD 8 has an 8-inch HD display, quad-core processor, 1.5 GB of RAM, stereo speakers with Dolby Audio, rear- and front-facing cameras as well as a claimed 12 hours of battery life (4,750 mAh). The USD 89.99 device comes with 16 GB of storage plus support for up to 200 GB more via a microSD card and runs Fire OS 5, the latest version of Amazon's Android-based, content focused mobile OS.
