PAIGNTON'S DP Cars has been approved by Devon and Somerset trading standards under its Buy With Confidence Scheme one of just two used car dealerships in Torbay to meet the tough requirements. The dealership at Hyde Road, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, had to undergo a detailed assessment to be verified under the scheme, including several visits to the showrooms by trading standards assessors.

Anadarko Petroleum Corp's agreement to pay $5.15 billion to clean up nuclear fuel and other pollution received approval from a federal judge on Monday, the final hurdle for the settlement touted by the U.S. Department of Justice as the largest-ever environmental cleanup recovery. The agreement, reached in April, resolved a lawsuit against Anadarko and its Kerr-McGee unit from creditors of Tronox Inc, the paint materials maker that was once a unit of Kerr-McGee.

A potato genetically engineered to reduce the amounts of a potentially harmful ingredient in french fries and potato chips has been approved for commercial planting, the Department of Agriculture announced Friday. The potato's DNA has been altered so that less of a chemical called acrylamide, which is suspected of causing cancer in people, is produced when the potato is fried.
