US apparel imports have been relatively flat in the first quarter with China however rebounding thanks to a new fall of its unit prices. Other origins have got very different results depending on product categories as usual, with a rise of unit values resulting in lower sales in volume terms. Our series of statistical tables offer a comprehensive comparison of volume, value and unit value changes per origin and product category in 1st quarter 2017 and 1st quarter 2018. The report also includes a detailed comparison of Chinese price trends vs other origins, through a series of indexes. Sri Lanka's apparel sector could pass the US$5bn export revenue mark this year, the country's Minister for Industry and Commerce has said, boosted by the GSP-plus status it enjoys with the European Union (EU).
