LA Metro Launches Initiatives for Minority Businesses

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority will launch two new initiatives aimed at providing business development opportunities for historically underutilized businesses beginning Sept. 12, with the release of the Request for Qualifications & Request for Proposal for the final design and construction of the Purple Line Extension Project, Section 2. The RFQ and RFP will be released together to expedite the process of selecting of the contractor to design and build the 2.6 mile Metro Purple Line Extension Section 2, which will run underneath Wilshire Boulevard from La Cienega Boulevard to downtown Century City.

Honda agrees to repay $24 million to minority auto-loan borrowers

Honda Motor Co.' s auto finance unit will pay out $24 million in compensation to minority borrowers after the federal government said the car maker charged African-American, Hispanic and Asian borrowers higher interest rates on car loans than it did for whites - even if their credit was good.
