(Telecompaper) KPN will be investing EUR 35 million in KPN Ventures, an investment fund aimed at "outside-in" innovation and designed to increase KPN's involvement in start-ups. KPN wants to accelerate network and product innovation. The company noted that both technology and customer behaviour are changing fast, making it necessary to cooperate with flexible and innovative players. KPN is developing its own Wi-Fi network, and working on machine-to-machine communication in the license-free 868 MHz frequenties. To this goal, the company launched the LoRa industrial group earlier this year.Vodafone Netherlands is also investing in start-ups, but on a more modest scale.
