Brazil's main opposition party said on Tuesday it would call on the Supreme Court to investigate President Dilma Rousseff's involvement in a corruption scheme at state-run oil firm Petroleo Brasileiro SA. The motion comes a day after prosecutors charged the treasurer of Rousseff's Workers' Party, Joao Vaccari, with corruption and money laundering, saying that Vaccari was aware that donations he sought for the party were bribe money stolen from Petrobras.

Brazilian police arrested a former Petroleo Brasileiro SA executive on Monday, in a broad kickback and money laundering investigation that has rattled some of the nation's biggest companies and political parties. Former services director Renato Duque, who had already been detained for three weeks late last year as part of the so-called "Operation Car Wash", was arrested by Brazilian federal police at his house in Rio de Janeiro, TV Globo said.

Prosecutors are poised to trace the financial accounts of former POSCO chairman Chung Joon-yang's relatives amid allegations that he engaged in irregular funding through companies owned by some of his relatives. According to the investigators on Monday, the relatives' firms are suspected of having been used to create political slush funds during the Lee Myung-bak administration.
