New research by engineers from the Universities of Bristol and Lund, working alongside National Instruments , has demonstrated how a massive antenna system can offer a 12-fold increase in spectrum efficiency compared with current 4G cellular technology. Multiple antenna technology, referred to as MIMO , is already used in many Wi-Fi routers and 4G cellular phone systems.

CAMPAIGNERS were celebrating today after the Government pledged A 500,000 towards a study into creating a new junction on the M4 to ease Bristol traffic. Supporters of the proposal to build a junction at Emersons Green on the M4 - branded 'Junction 18a' - say the A 50 million project could open up at least 7,000 jobs, as well as take pressure off the M4, M32 and other major roads around north and east Bristol, particularly the A4174 Avon Ring Road.
