Lawmaker proposes woodstove aid

Oregon's environmental agency could soon explore options to reduce pollution from older, dirtier wood stoves, if lawmakers move ahead with draft legislation introduced on Monday. For three decades, the state has required homeowners to switch out older stoves when they sell their properties.

$1.2-million project to aid hog-barn switchover

Hog producers will benefit from research on switching from gestation stalls to loose sow housing as a result of a pilot project underway at a Maple Leaf Foods barn near Steinbach, Federal Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz and Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Development Minister Ron Kostyshyn announced Friday. "The Canadian pork industry is a major economic driver," said Ritz.

Automaker seeking aid to move US offices to Camden

The company wants to consolidate about 500 workers who are now in' three buildings in Cherry Hill and Pennsauken, about four miles from its proposed new home in an office park being developed by the Campbell Soup Co.
