Japan's Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corp, which plans to spend 300 billion yen on overseas expansion by March 2018, may set aside a bigger amount in the following years to propel growth abroad, its president, Kosei Shindo, said. Nippon Steel's appetite for investments through mergers and acquisitions may pique the interest of global peers in selling assets as they suffer from slumping steel prices, with Chinese mills swamping global markets with cheap products.

British private equity firm Lion Capital , former owner of high-end footwear designer Jimmy Choo , is considering returning to the upscale footwear market with a takeover of luxury shoe retailer Kurt Geiger , Sky News reported citing people familiar with the matter. Lion Capital, who along with a number of bidders presented initial offers on Monday, is believed to have received financial information about Kurt Geiger and may value the brand at about 250 million pounds , Sky News said.

Startup XCellAir Eyes $18B WiFi Market

Traditional network operators have not tended to view WiFi as a major revenue-generating opportunity, but a San Diego-based startup called XCellAir is hoping to convince them otherwise. Spun out of wireless patents player InterDigital Inc. , from which it received a second tranche of funding in July, the 25-employee company is brandishing a new piece of research that suggests operators in the world's ten biggest financial centers alone could be missing out on an $18 billion opportunity as a result of poor WiFi management.
