Exec guilty of insider trading of Stamford. co.'s stock

A onetime executive of Harman International Industries pleaded guilty to insider trading in October 2013, after buying shares in advance of the company's quarterly financial results then cashing in on a big jump in the price of Harman's stock. Norwalk resident Dennis W. Hamilton , 45, had been a vice president of tax at Stamford-based Harman , which sells audio gear and auto infotainment systems.

Stamford giant extends CEO's contract

Stamford-based Charter Communications added a year to the employment contract for CEO Tom Rutledge , as the company works to complete its $57 billion acquisition of New York City-based Time Warner Cable . Rutledge, whose contract had been slated to expire on Feb. 13, will now see his deal run through February 2017, with Charter stating it expects to work out a five-year agreement with him.

Stamford co. executive charged with insider trading

The FBI arrested a Norwalk man Friday and charged him with trading stock on insider financial information about Harman International Industries where he worked, with the Department of Justice pursuing a criminal complaint in tandem with civil charges filed by the Securities and Exchange Commission. Norwalk resident Dennis W. Hamilton , 45, was released on a $2 million bond after appearing in New Haven before U.S. Magistrate Judge Sarah Merriam , according to the office of Deirdre Daly , U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut, which said Harman has cooperated in the investigation.
