Germany sets deadline for Volksagen auto-fix plan

The German motor authority has given Volkswagen AG an Oct. 7 deadline to come up with a plan for fixing manipulated cars, as newspapers reported the company had been warned of an illegal use of emissions-related software. "The Federal Motor Transport Authority has asked Volkswagen to provide a binding plan for measures and a schedule which makes clear, when a technical solution for the affected vehicles can be put into practice," said Transport Minister Alexander Dobrindt on Sunday.

French low-cost telecom operator Iliad has set a mid-October deadline to decide whether to improve its bid for T-Mobile US or walk away as it faces resistance from seller Deutsche Telekom, several people familiar with the situation said. Deutsche Telekom, which owns 66 percent of the fourth-largest U.S. carrier, has doubts that Iliad will be able to improve the U.S. business since the French startup has no track record in the country, a source close to the German company's management said.
