Japanese air bag manufacturer Takata Corp is doubling a recall of potentially deadly air bags to nearly 34 million vehicles, creating the largest automotive recall in American history, U.S. safety regulators said on Tuesday. The recall involves passenger and driver-side air bag inflators in vehicles made by 11 automakers, the U.S. Department of Transportation, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Takata said.

Searcy Denney Files Another Lawsuit Over Defective DePuy Pinnacle Hip Implant

In early May, Searcy Denney mass tort lawyers Cal Warriner and Brenda Fulmer filed yet another lawsuit against Johnson & Johnson and DePuy Orthopaedics, Inc. This latest case was filed on behalf of a Southwest Florida resident who was implanted with the defective Pinnacle brand hip implant at Lee Memorial in Fort Myers, Florida in 2008. The Pinnacle implant family manufactured by J&J's orthopedic division includes a number of different components that are assembled by the surgeon during the total hip arthroplasty procedure.

Death toll from defective GM ignition switches rises to 100

DETROIT - Families of at least 100 people killed in crashes caused by defective General Motors ignition switches will get payments from the automaker. Attorney Kenneth Feinberg, who was hired by GM to compensate victims, updated the total on Monday.

GM Now Counts 64 Deaths from Defective Ignition Switches, Still Reviewing Claims

Five weeks after General Motors closed its victim-settlement fund to new applicants, administrator Kenneth Feinberg has tallied up 13 more deaths and 30 more injuries related to ignition-switch defects the automaker admitted to hiding for 13 years. So far, the settlement fund-estimated to pay out between $400 million and $600 million-has now counted 64 deaths and 108 injuries from 4343 claims submitted since August.
