PPF spins off networks in Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary into new Cetin units

(Telecompaper) PPF Telecom Group said it has completed the separation of the retail and infrastructure activities at three of its Telenor-branded mobile operators, in Bulgaria, Hungary and Serbia. The network infrastructure has been spun off into a new company under the name Cetin, the same as at PPF's Czech operators. The company said Cetin will become the telecommunication infrastructure backbone of PPF Telecom Group as well as serve wholesale customers.

Xiaomi spins off Poco brand, to launch more premium phones in India

(Telecompaper) Xiaomi said that Poco, the sub-brand it unveiled in the summer of 2018, is now an independent company, TechCrunch reported. Xiaomi VP Manu Kumar made the announcement, saying Poco had grown into its own identity and that it was right to let the secondary brand operate on its own. Xiaomi did not specifiy now Poco was spun off or how it would be structured.

Nuance spins off automotive division, now called Cerence

(Telecompaper) Nuance Communications has spun-off its automotive division, now called Cerence. The two companies separated on 1 October, with Cerence shares set to start trading on 2 October on the Nasdaq Global Select Market. On its new website, Cerence says it will use AI, voice recognition, gaze and touch technologies, and augmented reality for its mobility technologies in the car. Nuance announced the spin-off late last year, and this summer named Sanjay Dhawan the new company's future CEO.
