2015-04-13 14:31:08| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today
NTSB issued 4 urgent recommendations regarding production of robust, fire-resistant rail cars used to safely carry such flammable liquids as crude oil and ethanol. Among said recommendations was aggressive scheduling for replacing/retrofitting current rail car fleet with better thermal protection against heat from fires and increasing pressure relief device capacity. Noting increasing crude oil rail traffic, NTSB's Christopher A. Hart said, "We can’t wait a decade for safer rail cars."
