Millicom Q3 revenues up 11% on new acquisitions, cuts FY outlook

(Telecompaper) In its main market of Latin America, the company increased revenues 9.7 percent to USD 1.50 billion, including its joint ventures in Guatemala and Honduras. Organic service revenues grew 1.0 percent to USD 1.38 billion and EBITDA rose 0.7 percent on an organic basis to USD 620 million, excluding the impact of IFRS 16, while the EBITDA margin improved by 3 percentage points year-on-year to 41.4 percent. By country, organic service revenue growth was strongest in Costa Rica (+4.6%) and Guatemala (+3.2%), while growth lagged in El Salvador (-4.9%) and Panama (-2.9%) during the quarter.

Millicom grows Q2 revenues 5.4% on acquisitions, operating profit lower

(Telecompaper) Millicom reported second-quarter revenues up 5.4 percent to USD 1.054 billion, helped by its acquisitions of Cable Onda as well as Telefonica Nicaragua. Operating profit fell 34.5 percent to USD 110 million on one-off charges and higher amortization expense, and net profit rose to USD 46 million from a loss of USD 1 million a year ago, due mostly to revaluation gains.

Sweden's Kinnevik to divest Millicom investment

(Telecompaper) Milllicom has announced that Swedish investment company Kinnevik intends to divest its shareholding in the Latin America-focused telecommunications group through a public offering and a distribution to Kinnevik's shareholders. The investment company is currently Millicom's largest shareholder and will offer to divest about 11 million shares of the total 37.2 percent of Millicom shares it owns, and distribute the remainder of its holding to shareholders.

Maroc Telecom to acquire Tigo Chad from Millicom

(Telecompaper) Maroc Telecom has signed an agreement with Millicom to acquire 100 percent of the shares of its subsidiary Tigo Chad. The acquisition aims to consolidate the presence of Maroc Telecom in Africa, while continuing Millicom's gradual exit from Africa to focus on Latin America.
