Novozymes was in line to receive more than $875,000 in economic development incentives to create 100 new jobs at a new $36 million research and development facility in Cary - but a location complication had the enzyme developer looking elsewhere. Novozymes was approved for up to $400,000 in incentives when it announced in April that it would be bringing 100 jobs to Cary - but an undisclosed "complication" with its chosen site had the company looking elsewhere for a facility.

DuPont, Monsanto agree to settle patent lawsuits

Two of the biggest U.S. agribusiness companies say they have agreed to settle their patent-infringement lawsuits against each other that had been pending in a St. Louis federal court. St. Louis-based Monsanto had claimed that DuPont had infringed upon certain Monsanto patents for determining a seed's genetics.

Several St. Louis corporations have closed on Tuesday following violent protests overnight with the announcement of the grand jury's decision to not indict Officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of Michael Brown . Monsanto has closed its facilities in Chesterfield and Creve Coeur, a spokesman said.

MONSANTO, DOW TO CHALLENGE MAUI COUNTY'S BAN OF GM CROPS Nov. 17, 2014 Agri-Pulse reports: Monsanto and Dow AgroSciences say they will challenge an initiative passed by voters in Hawaii's Maui County that places a moratorium on growing genetically modified crops. The companies farm more than 3,500 acres in the county, which includes the islands of Maui, Lanai and Molakai, and employ more than 600 people there.
