Fiat Chrysler Automobiles begins trading on the New York Stock Exchange Monday, as the newly merged company seeks to raise its profile and give U.S. investors a chance to own a piece of the Chrysler comeback story. The new company's stock, to be traded under the symbol FCA, is expected to open Monday at about $8.90, Friday's closing price for the American Depositary Shares of Fiat SpA.

The Agnelli family has tightened its grip on Fiat by securing higher voting rights after the carmaker's merger into Fiat Chrysler Automobiles , a statement from the Italian bourse shows. The move by the Agnellis' holding company, Exor, to boost its voting power at FCA to nearly 50 percent could make Fiat Chrysler less of a takeover target and reduce its options for strategic tie-ups.
