RF-Heated Magnetic Nanoparticles Could Improve Organ Cryopreservation
2014-10-28 10:59:18| rfglobalnet Home Page
Cryopreserving organs and masses of tissue has improved significantly, but the thawing of these organs has not. Now an approach using radio frequency (RF) and magnetic nanoparticles (mNPs) may allow uniform thawing that avoids the damage seen with heating before.

Earths magnetic field could flip within our lifetime but dont worry, we should be OK
2014-10-21 21:08:15| Extremetech
This summer, the European Space Agency published data that suggested that the Earth's magnetic field could flip -- as in, the magnetic north pole becomes the magnetic south pole -- in 'a few thousand years.' At the time, I figured there was no rush to write it up -- after all, we might not even be living on Earth in a few thousand years. Now, however, new research published this week shows that the magnetic field might flip within our lifetime -- so it's probably something that we ought to talk about.

Coating Thickness Gauge uses magnetic and eddy current principles.
2014-09-26 14:31:06| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today
Comprising 3 configurations, rugged 6000GP Series measures paint and coating thickness from 0–60 mils (0–1500 µm) on ferrous and non-ferrous metals with resolution of 0.05 or 0.1 mil (1 or 2 µm). Accuracy ranges from 0.05 mils + 1% for 0–2 mils to 2 µm + 1 for >50 µm. Along with audible and visual Hi/Lo alarm, features include impact-resistant and backlit Lexan® display, temperature compensation, Average Zero feature, user-selectable mil or µm units, and high resolution mode.
