Tata sells consumer mobile ops to Bharti Airtel

(Telecompaper) The Tata Group has agreed to sell its consumer mobile businesses to Bharti Airtel, including all customers and assets. No financial details were disclosed about the deal, except that it will done on a debt- and cash-free basis, except for Bharti assuming a small portion of Tata payments for spectrum. The acquisition will be subject to the usual regulatory approvals. The boards of Tata Sons, TTSL and TTML have already given their green light.

(Telecompaper) Airtel Ghana CEO Lucy Quist has announced her departure from the telecommunications company ahead of Airtel's merger with Tigo, Myjoyonline reported. In her Facebook post, Quist announced that the time was right for her to move on to the next chapter. Quist joined Airtel Ghana in 2014 as the first Ghanaian female CEO of a major multinational telecom company.
Airtel strikes partnership deal with SK Telecom in India

(Telecompaper) Indian operator Bharti Airtel announced a partnership agreement with Korea's SK Telecom. Under the terms of the deal, Airtel will leverage SK Telecom's expertise to build its telecom network in India. The partnership covers several areas, including developing bespoke software to upgrade network experience, leveraging machine learning, big data and building customized tools to improve network planning based on customer's device experience, Airtel said.

Airtel sells 3.6% stake in Infratel tower unit for INR 26 bln

(Telecompaper) Indian operator Bharti Airtel has divested a 3.6 percent stake in its towers arm Bharti Infratel for INR 26 billion. Bharti Airtel sold 67.53 million shares in its subsidiary Bharti Infratel at a price of INR 380.6 per share, representing a discount of around 4 percent to the previous day's closing price. Following this transaction, Bharti Airtel owns a 58 percent stake in Bharti Infratel.
