China Telecom to launch LTE in 40 cities with Alcatel-Lucent

(Telecompaper) Alcatel-Lucent was named by China Telecom as one of its top three suppliers for the rollout of mobile broadband services across China. China Telecom is preparing to expand LTE services in both new and existing regions of China, following the award of full FDD-LTE licences by the Chinese government, an expansion that will address exploding demand for high-performance data and video content. Alcatel-Lucent will roll out its LTE mobile broadband access technology in 40 cities across 12 provinces. This agreement follows an initial trial deployment contract awarded in December 2013.

The non-profit organization St. Louis Clean Cities has been awarded $162,454 to replace one bus from the Jefferson R-VII School District in Festus, Mo., and five buses from the DeSoto Public School District No. 73 in DeSoto, Mo. The new buses purchased under this grant will have EPA-certified engines meeting 2013 standards
Water use by Central Texas cities drops despite their growth

Austin and other Central Texas cities are using about 20 percent less water from the Colorado River despite the region's explosive population growth. Officials at the height of the drought in 2011 began telling residents in Austin, Cedar Park, Pflugerville and elsewhere to reduce the amount of water they used.
