External Communications Specialist Betzdorf or The Hague Luxembourg Betzdorf or Netherlands The Hague The External Communications Specialist is part of a team that is responsible for managing a strategic flow of information to all noninternal SES audiences in order to manage the companys reputation and influence market perceptions. You will manage andor support implementation of strategic communications campaigns and programmes to ensure the company and its offerings are clearly, positively and consistently represented across all external channels both online and offline. You will be responsible for external communications in assigned regionskey verticals and will be working with the wider Marketing and Communications team to align strategies and messaging. In addition to managing public relations agencies to amplify the companys narrative and key messages, you will add value to the business by executing a welldefined communications strategy which comprises preparation of news, press briefings, pressrelated content or company publications. You will maintain SESs relationships with marketsegment trade publications, key influencers and the public, and will drive awareness of news relating to SES to help achieve the companys business objectives. Key Result Areas Identify, plan and execute external communication activities to support either certain key markets regions Work closely with business unit leaders and respective marketing teams to develop news stories and content that support business objectives Manage public relations and communications agencies to deliver the overall brand and communications strategy Create communications packages such as press releases, fact sheets, QAs, briefing documents, newsletters, bylined contributions, thought leadership articles, blogs, presentations, photos, infographics, and more Maintain the SES wording convention, SESs Wikipedia pages and sections of the SES website Produce media and activities reporting monthly report, management reports and others as required Education and Skills Bachelors or Masters degree, Communications, Journalism, Marketing Excellent core communications competencies, including thought organization, message development, writing, brand and an eye for effective design Understanding of best practices in various traditional and digital communications vehicles Nativelevel fluency in English required German, French andor Luxembourgish are a strong plus Excellent interpersonal skills to manage both internal and external stakeholders Good organisational skills and priority setting skills Experience 24 years of relevant work experience in public relations, corporate communications and or journalism in an international environment Ability to drive maximum effectiveness from external PR and communications agencies and contractors Strong interpersonal skills to manage and cultivate media relationships Passion and proven experience in driving messages news narratives across a range of digital and offline presence Whats in it for you? Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Support the definition and monitoring of activities for the preparation of future ESA Earth observation missions, Review TNs and actively participate to studies and progress meetings related to EO future mission studies, Support elaboration of SOWs for EO future mission studies Contribute to ensure the coherency of the endtoend concept and design of future EO missions, including, as needed, mission performance analyses, simulations and analysis of observations and products, Level 1 andor Level 2 product and algorithm analyses, and data analysis for validation and mission performance during phase E of a mission in support of future missions. The specific analyses can be related to satellite or dedicated suborbital mission campaign concepts. Perform internal studies for future EO missions, in particular to assess the results of external activities or to prepare the formulation of new mission concepts Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory You have an MSc in Engineering with a strong background in satellite remote sensing, particularly altimetry andor sensing using Lband signals. You have good knowledge of relevant programming languages e.g. Matlab, Python. Knowledge of specific software packages suited for the identified tasks or domains. You are able to work both autonomously and as a part of a team, have good communication and technical writing skills, good organisation skills. You are methodical and proactive, with spirit of initiative and capability to work independently. You have the capability to synthesise, summarise and take conclusions is an important asset.
