Regulatory exemptions asked for by 7 aerial photo and video production companies would allow film and television industry to use unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) with FAA approval. Demand for commercial UAS operations could lead to economic benefits, but all associated safety issues must be considered. FAA has been working to implement provisions of Section 333 of FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012 and move forward with UAS integration before proposing small UAS rule.
