The mobile networks of Verizon and AT&T performed best in April tests throughout lower Fairfield County, but an independent analyst firm said Sprint and T-Mobile appear to have boosted their 4G-LTE coverage locally in the past six months. Bellevue, Wash.-based Rootmetrics conducted some 18,600 tests in early April along 923 miles of roads in the Stamford and Bridgeport areas, as well as in 23 buildings with public access.

Sprint Corporation's earnings report on Tuesday may reveal what T-Mobile US Chief Executive Officer John Legere has been predicting for months - that T-Mobile has overtaken Sprint to join the top three US wireless carriers. Given the subscriber growth rate of Bellevue, Washington-based T-Mobile, there's an air of inevitability that suggests if Tuesday isn't the day, it won't be much further off.

Mobile announced its first-quarter earnings Tuesday, setting a high bar for Overland Park-based Sprint Corp. to beat. During the first three months of 2015, T-Mobile added 1.8 million subscribers, bringing the total number of customers to 56.8 million.
