Aurora is an established supplier of skilled manpower to ESA and in particular at ESTEC and ESAC. Aurora has the opportunity to expand our support to ESA in the Directorate of Technology, Engineering and Quality in the domain of ATP Aerothermodynamics Propulsion Engineering. Overview Providing expert technical support in Propulsion for Spacecraft chemical propulsion and for Launchers liquid and solid propulsion to the Agencys project teams responsible for the development of spacecraft and launchers, throughout all the project phases. Supporting the activities for studies, experimental investigations and engineering developments in spacecraft and launcher propulsion components, equipment, subsystems, systems. Supporting the activities for studies, experimental investigations and engineering developments in advanced propulsion components, equipment, subsystems, systems, such as nuclear propulsion, solarthermal upper stages, Airbreathing Propulsion, Advanced Chemical Systems, MEMS etc. Provision of specialised support to Agency feasibility and project definition studies, preparatory programmes and approved projects in the field of chemical propulsion. Participation in the definition and execution of the Agencys technology programmes. Contribution to the overseeing activities of the Directorate of Technology, Engineering and Quality. Harmonisation with other ESA and national developments and monitoring of applicable development trends. Provision of specialised support to feasibility, preparatory programmes and approved projects in the field of chemical propulsion, including CDF participation. Assessment and development of chemical propulsion novel propulsion concepts e.g. Nuclear and Airbreathing technologies. Assessment and development of relevant advanced propulsion methods, processes and concepts MEMS propulsion, Green Propulsion, Advanced Manufacturing etc. The configurationsystem design of chemical propulsion systems including the initiation of appropriate critical technology developments coordinating support by other DTEC sections. Establishment and promotion of design and engineering standards in the area of chemical propulsion. The undertaking of programmes of basic experimental research and evaluationqualification testing in the chemical propulsion in the ESA Propulsion Laboratory at ESTEC. Specific qualification requirements Master degree in Aerospace Engineering with emphasis in space propulsion related subjects and at least 4 years working experience in the Aerospace industry. Proven experience of electric propulsion systems and components for spacecraft andor a good knowledge of the specialist technological areas involved in advanced space propulsion as design and testing of high and very high power electric propulsion. Proven experience in the design, development andor testing of chemical propulsion systems andor components for spacecraft andor launcher applications. A good knowledge of other specialist technological areas involved in space propulsion i.e. materials, thermal, mechanical would also be desirable. Promoting cooperation and teamworking, problem solving. Fluency in English both written and spoken is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. Legal and Security Requirements All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA. Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident. Location The work will be performed at the European Space Technology and Research Centre ESTEC at Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Contract The selected candidate will receive good remuneration in line withESA Job Class. Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands. The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday. We are looking for a System Engineer Chemical Propulsion Components for our client in the Bergen op Zoom area. Ajilon Technology Aerospace Defense is a specialised Engineering consultancy with more than 30 years experience providing aerospace defense engineers to our key partners in The Netherlands. The Objective of the role The System Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the overall design is aligned with the customer requirements. In all activities he works with the dedicated Core Team Project Lead, Product Assurance System Engineer. The Core Team is the direct link with all Customers and Major Subcontractors and the System Engineer is responsible for all technical aspects of this. In preliminary phases he is involved with Technical TradeOffs and understanding the customer requirements. Once the requirements are well understood the System Engineer works with the RD engineering departments CAD, Structural, Thermal and Electrical to ensure the design is well executed. As part of his activities he must support the design with various dedicated analysis. The System Engineer will be responsible in creating the dedicated engineering documentation with the other Core Team members. Once the design is complete the System Engineer acts as interface to production to ensure the correct design is manufactured. When large supplierssubcontractors are part of the project the System Engineer is responsible for managing all technical aspects of the Subcontract including creation of specifications, review of documentation and test results. During the manufacturing and assembly of the System Engineer offers engineering support in order to allow full assembly to be completed. This includes supporting subassembly testing with procedures, reviewing build data and executing critical design choices. Once assembly is complete the System Engineer is responsible for ensuring the unit is tested accordingly. He will be responsible for the test procedure and ensuring the dedicated Customer requirements are met during testing. On occasions the System Engineer will be directly involved with testing depending on the complexity of the test. Once testing is complete the System Engineer is responsible for preparing the final engineering inputs to the End Item Data Packs and discussing all technical topics with the customer. During the delivery and postdelivery of the hardware the System Engineer will be responsible with closing out all technical question and actions further supporting the customer.
