As communications technology continues to evolve at such a blistering pace, too often rural areas are left underserved by commercial operators due to the cost of deployment, leaving them trapped by the digital divide and unable to enjoy the same prospects as their urban neighbours. Ireland's National Broadband Plan (NBP), however, is looking to buck this trend. Last week saw the first premises in Ireland receive fibre connectivity as part of the NBP, a project that is aiming to connect over 1.1 million people across around 544,000 homes, business, farms and schools. Study Finds Best US Mobile Internet Connectivity in Northeast

Eight of the top 10 states for mobile Internet coverage are in the Northeast, according to an analysis released by consumer product and services comparison website WhistleOut. However, the best mobile Internet coverage isn't in a state at all -- but in the District of Columbia. To rank the states, 75 percent of the score was based on median mobile download speeds and 25 percent by 5G coverage.

China Mobile partners Nokia to expand enterprise IoT connectivity globally

(Telecompaper) Nokia was selected by China Mobile to provide IoT connectivity and services to customers across China and globally. The partnership will enable CMIoT to expand its international OneLink IoT functionalities, which will be underpinned by Nokia's Worldwide IoT Network Grid (Wing) managed service. Nokia Wing's network nodes, deployed around the world, will be integrated with the OneLink IoT SIM Card Connection and Management Platform to provide unified connectivity management for CMIoT's international business customers.
