For the location in Darmstadt Germany we are looking for a OPSSAT Experiment Infrastructure Engineer mfd to work at ESOC. Tasks The primary areas of responsibility for this service are the creation, documenting, testing and validation of the OPSSAT Experiment infrastructure. The general activities to be supported by this service are Study of the OPSSAT specific onboard system on module SoM including all hardware and software interfaces with special attention to the Cyclone V FPGA Support creating the infrastructure required to support OPSSAT Experimenters using the SoM effectively, with special attention on how to integrate experiments into the Cyclone V FPGA Production of the technical documentation and procedures Production of the training documentation Production of the necessary onboard infrastructure in terms of software and VHDL code to be used as a standard template for OPSSAT experimenters Production of the necessary ground infrastructure to test and validate experiments on the ground before loading to the spacecraft Production of some example experiments to prove the concept and to use as guides for OPSSAT experimenters Participation in the System Validation Tests SVT Programme Participation in the inflight commissioning operations General Support in Experimenter coordination and technical support General Flight Control Support Service Essential requirements Experience in programming FPGAs Experience in embedded programming Experience in activities applicable to spacecraft operations Fluency in English, both speech and writing Coordination with other service providers in operations team player Ability to work independently Desirable requirements Familiarity with the ESOC environment Experience in producing technical documentation Some experience dealing with external interfaces to technical customers Familiarity with the OPSSAT mission Previous experience with Altera FPGA programming especially Cyclone V Previous experience with embedded programming on the OPSSAT MityARM SoM Previous experience with embedded programming on ARM9 processors Other information Start date is 1st April 2019 To apply please visit www.scisys.despacejobs or email your CV and cover letter to recruitingscisys.de

Location ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands Description Experiment System Engineer in the PRODEX Office, Future Missions Department, Directorate of Science. PRODEX is an optional programme devoted to the development of scientific instruments and experiments for space science missions. The development may involve industry andor scientific institutes and may cover either a full instrument or instrument contributionssubsystems. Duties Reporting to the PRODEX Head of Office or his Deputy, the postholder will be in charge of implementing a number of PRODEX activities, with an emphasis on Scientific Space Instrumentation development. Duties include establishing the overall work programme for the development of PRODEX experiments within the scientific institutes in line with the relevant delegations instructions being responsible for monitoring the technical, schedule and financial status of experiment development, identifying potential problem areas and proposing remedial action assisting, in coordination with scientific institutes, with preparing tender documents, participating in proposal evaluations, preparing the information required for contract negotiations and subsequently monitoring the endtoend development of projectsactivities contracted to industrial consortia liaising between the relevant scientific institutes and industry for the duration of the contracts interfacing internally with ESA project teams or specialists on technicalprogrammatic matters and with the relevant financial and procurement experts on financial and contractual matters. regularly reporting to the line manager on the status of the activities and implementation difficulties, with a proactive resultoriented approach for problem solving Technical Competencies Instrumentation development System Engineering and AIV Instrumentation subsystems optics, detection and electronics, mechanical and thermal Handson hardware experience Management of industrial activities including reviews Knowledge of industrial costs and schedule aspects Experience in managing scientific space hardware developments with multiple interfaces PI, scientific consortium, project, industry Behavioural Competencies Problem Solving Results Orientation Planning Organisation Communication Relationship Management Additional Requirements Candidates should have the following background and experience experience in scientific space instrumentation design, development and AIV demonstrate a good balance between interacting with scientific institutions and with industrial partners systems oriented and adaptable to the specific management style of each project and partners. able to manage the progress of each contract taking into consideration both technical aspects as well as financial and scheduling constraints. able to interface with Agency specialists where specific expertise is needed, integrating their input into a more global solution. Education Applicants for this post should have a university PhD or Masters Degree in physics or space engineering.
