Telecommunications System Engineers 3 positions Overview The UK Space Sector is growing fast with a target size of 40bn by 2030. The new ESA Centre at Harwell is now fully operational and providing an exciting international environment focussed on Satellite Applications and Telecommunications. HE Space is seeking a team of 3 telecommunications specialists to support ESAs Telecommunications Programme. The work will be primarily focused on Phase A feasibility studies and successful applicants will be expected to work in partnership with external organisations in both a technical and business development capacity. Key Tasks and Responsibilities Assessment of new concepts and techniques to be applied to next generation satellite communication systems for both space and ground segment Preparation of Market Analysis and studies identifying end user needs in future satcoms systems Analysis, definition, initiation and management of industrial activities associated to new projects in the telecommunication satellite system domain Definition of all the elements endtoend associated to the missionsystem architecture of new telecommunication satellite projectssystems. Assessment and analysis of the best concepts and technical solutions to meet the defined mission and system requirements Assessment of the potential and benefits at system level of new techniquestechnologies. Perform tradeoffs between different conceptstechnologies to optimize the endtoend system Preparation of technical proposals in support of new satcom systems Design Authority and technical lead in the architectural definition of the end of end satcoms system including both space and ground segment. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree or equivalent qualification in Physics or Engineering Experience working for a major satellite manufacturer Several years of industrial experience in satellite telecommunications including endtoend design and system tradeoffs Demonstrable understanding of the satcom market, new technologies and services Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. Amsterdam-based VimpelCom Limited, the world's sixth-largest telecommunications company and an issuer of publicly traded securities in the United States, and its wholly-owned Uzbek subsidiary, Unitel LLC, entered into resolutions with the Department of Justice Thursday. The companies engaged in a conspiracy where they made bribery payments of more than $114 million to a government official in Uzbekistan between 2006 and 2012.

Requirements You should bring a University degree or equivalent qualification in Physics or Engineering, at least 4 years of professional experience and the following significant demonstrated industrial experience in satellite telecommunication systems design, including substantial experience in satellite payload and or satellite telecommunication endtoend system engineering specific experience in the area of secureinstitutional satellite communications systems, which is considered a valuable asset. Furthermore you should also be able to demonstrate excellent organisation and communications skills technical excellence resourcefulness selfmotivation ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships ability to document their work and to produce high quality documents willingness to travel, when required ability to work in an international working environment and be fluent in English a high level of written and spoken English is essential. Overview The contractor will support activities during the initial phases of the end to end satellite system design and involves studies at the level of pre Phase A but does not, in principle, involve the implementation phase. Examples are i Preparatory working groups to identifydefine new opportunities ii Exploratory meetings with potential industrial companies and with prospective partners iii Review meetings preparatory phases phase 0 and A. Legal and Security Requirements All applicants must be legally allowed to work in the United Kingdom without obtaining a VISA work permit. Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA. Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident. Location The work will be performed at the European Centre for Space Applications and Telecommunications ECSAT at Harwell, UK. Contract The selected candidate will receive good remuneration. Will be registered for both social security and tax in the United Kingdom. The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday.
