Hansa Medical AB today announced that results on IdeS effect on B-cells have been published in Journal of Immunology The scientific article entitled "The bacterial enzyme IdeS cleaves the IgG-type of B-cell receptor, abolishes BCR-mediated cell signaling and inhibits memory B-cell activation", by Sofia Jarnum, Robert Bockermann, Anna Runstrom, Lena Winstedt and Christian Kjellman, shows that IdeS not only inactivates plasma IgG but also cleaves IgG present on B-cells. Activation via the B-cell receptor on memory cells is a critical step in the development of antibody producing cells.
Hansa Medical receives FDA Orphan Drug Designation for IdeS

Hansa Medical today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has granted orphan drug designation to IdeS for the prevention of antibody mediated organ rejection in solid organ transplant patients. More information about the ODD has been posted on www.fda.com Approximately 30 percent of the patients on the waiting lists for kidney, heart, lung and pancreas, equivalent to approximately 35 000 patients in the US, are sensitized to Human Leukocyte Antigen .

First patient in IdeS phase II study transplanted

Hansa Medical AB today announced that the first patient after treatment with IdeS in a recently initiated Phase II study has been transplanted from a deceased donor. The phase II study that can include up to 10 patients is performed at Uppsala University Hospital and Karolinska University Hospital.
