ASTM member since 2003, Gabel was recognized for service as B02 recording secretary and on Subcommittee on Refined Nickel and Cobalt and Their Alloys (B02.07). Gabel also serves as American Society for Metals member.

Kralik Distinguished Service Award to Abbas Mirza, Ph.D. With ASTM since 2007, Mirza served as vice chairman of Subcommittee on Lead, Tin, Antimony and Their Alloys (B02.02) since 2010 and served multiple terms as B02 membership secretary. Mirza also received B02 Award of Appreciation in 2011.
