2nd train derails in Wisconsin, spills crude oil

" For the second day in a row, a freight train has derailed in the Midwestern state of Wisconsin. Canadian Pacific Railway says an eastbound train carrying crude oil derailed around 2 p.m. Sunday in Watertown in the southeastern part of the state.

Associated Press: Five tanker cars of a BNSF Railway freight train that derailed Saturday in western Wisconsin were leaking ethanol into the Mississippi River, the railroad said. The train derailed about 8:45 a.m. Saturday, around 2 miles north of Alma, a town along the Mississippi, BNSF said. Some of the 25 derailed cars were empty auto racks and tanker cars carrying denatured alcohol, also known as ethanol, the railroad said. BNSF said the railroad is working to contain the spill, but it didnt say how much ethanol...

Wisconsin Layoffs and Plant Closings Point to Bigger Concerns

Oscar Meyer on Wednesday announced that it will close its plant in Madison in 2017 leaving around 1,000 people unemployed. The news followed an announcement by Joy Global that it plans to lay off more than 100 people in the Milwaukee area starting this month, and reports of Wisconsin based Quad Graphics closing plants elsewhere in the country.
