Brown-Forman plans a bourbon barrel factory in Indiana

The company plans to spend $12 million to buy and expand a mill in Owen County to produce wooden staves and end pieces for its bourbon barrels, The Indianapolis Star reports. The 15,000-square-foot mill is in Spencer, Ind., and 50 people will be hired to run it, while the barrels are assembled at another site, the story said.

Farm operator to be featured each day of Indiana State Fair

The operators of 17 farms from around the state have been picked to represent the "Year of the Farmer" during this summer's Indiana State Fair. State Fair officials say those picked are individuals or families from various elements of Indiana agriculture, including grain, animal, fruit and tree producers along with an urban farmer from Indianapolis.
