UPDATE 1-China turns away US distillers grains over GMO, more rejections expected -trade

China has turned away about 2,000 tonnes of U.S. dried distillers grains , a corn by-product, and more rejections are expected in coming weeks as Beijing imposes strict checks over an unapproved genetically-modified strain, traders said on Thursday.

Source: U.S. Department of Agriculture The United States and China reported progress on a number of trade issues as a result of the 24th U.S.-China Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade (JCCT), which wrapped up today in Beijing. The JCCT is the highest level bilateral forum for the resolution of trade and investment issues between the United States and China. Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker and U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman co-chaired the JCCT with China's Vice Premier Wang Yang. read more

Louisville area gains 1,000 jobs in trade, transportation and utilities

As of October, the metro Louisville area had 133,200 jobs in the trade, transportation and utilities sector, more than any other sector, an increase of 1,000 jobs or 0.7 percent over October 2012.
