Higher sales at motor vehicle and parts dealers helped boost retail sales to $43.6 billion in August, up 0.5 per cent from the previous month and above an estimate of 0.1 per cent. It said sales at motor vehicle and parts dealers increased 2.0 per cent in August, the seventh consecutive increase.

Expert discussions will focus on practical quantitative topics in sensory evaluation, and attendees will be able to engage with speakers in open discussion. Statistics show slight increase in fatal aviation accidents.

According to NTSB's preliminary statistics, fatal general aviation accidents increased slightly from 222 in 2013 to 253 in 2014, and overall number of general aviation accidents decreased slightly from 1,224 in 2013 to 1,221 in 2014. Despite reporting fewer accidents, accident rate for general aviation aircraft increased from 6.26 per 100,000 flight hours in previous year to 6.74 in 2014. There were 28 accidents involving Part 121 operations and 4 involving scheduled Part 135 operations.
