Design Engineer, Spacecraft Imager Electronics Job Ref 683 Reports To Imager Electronics Team Leader Team Description The Imager electronics team delivers high quality, high reliability imagers to SSTLs fleet of earth observation spacecraft. The role would be ideally suited to a mixed signal design engineer with experience of driving imaging sensors and looking for a career move. Key Purpose Of Job Responsibility for the delivery of Imager Electronic equipment. The role includes full design life cycle from the requirements capture stage through design, production and test to inorbit verification and commissioning of Imager Electronic systems. Key Tasks Mixed Signal, Digital Analogue circuit design Schematic capture board level design. Circuit simulation where required. Test planning, test and verification. System Subsystem level interfacing and tradeoffs. Interface with internal and external customers. Provide support and advice to spacecraft operators. Management and delivery of imager electronics work packages PERSON SPECIFICATION essential requirements Qualifications Degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent Experience Experience in the following Digital and analogue circuit design. Hands on design and fault finding during test Knowledge and Skills Good VHDL knowledge Selfmotivated and able to manage a package of work. Excellent interpersonal skills both written and oral communications ability to interface with customers and technical representatives. Good understanding of digital analogue electronics. Creative problem solving. Ability to work simultaneously on a variety of projects and under pressure. Flexible adaptable to changing priorities. Good MS Office skills Word, Excel, PowerPoint particularly Location Place of work Guildford, Surrey and Sevenoaks, Kent

(Telecompaper) Chipmaker ARM has announced the acquisition of UK imaging products company Apical for USD 350 million in cash. ARM described Apical as one of the UK's fastest-growing technology companies, whose advanced imaging products are currently used in more than 1.5 billion smartphones and around 300 million other consumer electronics devices, digital cameras and tablets. The acquisition is intended to support ARM's long-term growth strategy by enabling new imaging products for next generation vehicles, security systems, robotics, mobile and any consumer, smart building, industrial or retail application where intelligent image processing is needed.
