Orange County's hotel industry expanded in the first quarter of this year, with increases in occupancy and revenue, according to STR Inc., a hotel tracking firm. The bump is due to an improving economy, more business and leisure travel, a shortage of new hotels and an influx of Chinese tourists, according to Lukas Hartwich, a senior analyst at Newport-Beach based real estate research firm Green Street Advisors.
