2013-02-07 08:32:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) Alcatel-Lucent announced that CEO Ben Verwaayen has decided not to seek re-election at the AGM on 8 May. He will remain in the post until a successful transition is executed. Verwaayen said it was clear to him that "now is an appropriate moment for the board to seek fresh leadership to take the company forward". He added that the group's restructuring plan and recent refinancing will put it on a secure footing for his successor. Verwaayen, the former CEO of BT, started at Alcatel-Lucent in late 2008. As CEO, he has lead the restructuring of the company since the merger of Alcatel and Lucent.
