Globe and Mail: Thursday's report that the Alberta government will ramp up the stringency of its provincial climate change policy was almost certainly motivated at least in part by concerns over pipeline approval. If so, it wouldn't be the first time that outside events have led Alberta to enact new environmental regulations. United Press International: The intensity of carbon dioxide emissions tied to oil sands production in Canada declined more than 20 percent, Norwegian energy company Statoil said.
