Retail lender takes former Sprint offices

Retail lending giant Synchrony Financial , a subsidiary of GE , leased more than 100,000 square feet of Maitland office space that had been built by Equity Partners in 2001 for Sprint. Also known as Retail Finance International Holdings , the group took 102,000 square feet at 965 Keller Road in a long-term lease.

Bob Miller, current Executive Chairman of Albertson's, Inc., the new owner of Pleasanton-based Safeway Inc., has been appointed to the additional role of Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Safeway's former CEO Robert Edwards. Edwards will continue on with the newly-merged company as Vice Chairman providing counsel to its board of diretors and the organization on key strategic and integration matters.

With earnings season underway, Wall Street is temporarily putting the U.S. Federal Reserve and macroeconomic policy on the back burner in favor of a focus on individual company results and forecasts for a pulse on the economy's health. A slew of big banks, including JPMorgan Chase & Co and Bank of America Corp, is due to report first-quarter earnings next week, providing an expected bright spot in an otherwise gloomy quarter.
