House price falls now widespread, say surveyors

The Rics survey suggests prices are still rising in Scotland and Wales, but by no means everywhere.

A shortage of properties for sale and growth in full-time employment is supporting prices, the lender says.

House prices growth slowed to 2.1% in August, according to the Nationwide.

Prices rose at an annual rate of 4.9% in June, down slightly from May's figure of 5%.

The lender says prices have recorded their fourth quarterly fall in a row for the first time since 2012.
