An Ingenious Invention That Turns Beehives Into Flowing Honey Taps
2015-02-26 04:08:01| Agriculture - Topix.net
Father and son team Stuart and Cedar Anderson invented Flow, a way to get honey on tap direct from the beehive. Harvesting honey has been a sticky, messy job that's changed very little from the earliest days of beekeeping.

Researchers may have found the most ingenious way yet generate solar power
2015-01-31 03:01:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
BGR: The Washington Post reports that solar power proponents are increasingly turning their eyes toward Americas parking lots as the perfect locations for mass solar panel installations. The reasons for this are easy to understand: Parking lots taking up huge chunks of our landscape and absorb a ton of heat in hot weather. Why not put them to good use by installing solar panels over them? The one big issue, the Post says, is that such solar panel installations are very expensive right now, much more...

Gadget Ogling: A Microsoft Marvel, an Eensy Keyboard and an Ingenious Desk
2015-01-24 16:57:11| TechNewsWorld
Microsoft had a major surprise up its sleeve for those awaiting details about the Windows 10 launch: its holographic headset, HoloLens. Billed as a new way to interact with technology and the world around us at once, it overlays holograms onto what wearers see in front of them. They might, for instance, play a version of Minecraft that's constructed across a kitchen table and chairs.

Ingenious molecular mechanisms in the age of transformable DNA
2015-01-07 13:30:34| Extremetech
Among the pioneers of this relatively new field of structural DNA nanotechnology is a group of researchers from Ohio State who have managed to engineer some pretty fancy DNA actuators. One of their devices uses a so-called Bennett linkage -- a Pacman-like molecular chomper that can be programmed to release release its cargo, or potentially eat it, on demand.
