The University of Memphis has established the D. Mike Pennington Award for Outstanding Mentoring to honor a longtime trucking-industry figure who died in December. Pennington died of a heart attack while out with his wife, Patsy, and friends.

In celebration of the 15th year of publication, students from across the state will be honored and have the opportunity to present their work alongside professional authors and artists. Student artwork from the Honoring Our Rivers collection will be featured in our Basil Hallward gallery throughout the month of May.
