EcoWatch: In case you havent heard enough about the Keystone XL pipeline, Jon Stewart chimes in showing the absurdity of the recent debate and vote in the Senate where the measure failed to approve the pipeline by 41-59. Sixty votes are required to pass a bill out of the Senate. Stewart asks, How many jobs would this project create? We can build the Keystone pipeline creating thousands of temporary and millions of permanent jobs, says Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) in a clip via C-Span. The CEO...

National Public Radio: Congress attempts to force approval of the Keystone XL pipeline have re-ignited debate over the project, which would allow more crude oil to flow from the tar sands of Canada to refineries on the Gulf Coast. Its also re-ignited debate over what could happen to that oil once it gets to Texas. 2014-11-20 00:07:02| Energy - Topix.net
A bill to force approval of the Keystone XL pipeline failed in the U.S. Senate on Tuesday, sparing President Barack Obama from an expected veto of legislation that several fellow Democrats supported. The measure fell just short of the 60 votes needed for passage, despite frantic last-minute lobbying by supporters, especially Democratic Senator Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, who faces a runoff election on Dec. 6. She has staked her hopes of winning a fourth Senate term on the Keystone gambit.

Calgary Herald: After a vigorous six-hour debate, the U.S. Senate failed, by one vote, to pass a bill authorizing the immediate construction of the controversial Keystone XL pipeline. The negative vote - just shy of the required 60 - comes five days after the House of Representatives voted to approve the pipeline. Final authorization now rests solely with U.S President Barack Obama, who has said he will make his decision following the resolution of a court case in Nevada. The $8-billion pipeline has been under...

Could Obama cut deal on Keystone pipeline? Don't rule it out
2014-11-19 07:07:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Reuters: President Barack Obama might be open to using the Keystone pipeline as leverage with Republicans if they cooperate on other aspects of his long-stalled domestic agenda, such as investing in infrastructure, closing tax loopholes or reducing carbon emissions. After years of fighting over TransCanada's crude oil pipeline from Canada, a Keystone deal is not entirely out of the question, sources inside the administration and others close to the White House told Reuters on Tuesday. With the Senate's...
