ANSI Accredited Standards Committee C136 revised ANSI C136.2-2015 Dielectric Withstand and Electrical Transient Immunity Requirements, which contains minimum performance requirements and test procedures for evaluating luminaire and control devices under test. Revisions include product family language inclusion, dielectric withstand test with hipot tester use, coupler/decoupler network language in transient immunity test, as well as additional ring wave and combination wave test specifications.

Standard provides uniform method for identifying types – HID, fluorescent, CFL, LED/solid state, induction, and plasma – and wattage ratings of luminaires used for roadway and area lighting.
