The Wall Street Journal: Johnson Controls, Tyco to merge in tax inversion deal

Johnson Controls Inc. and Tyco International PLC agreed to merge, the companies said Monday, in a deal that will place the combined company's headquarters in Ireland. Under the terms of the agreement, Johnson Controls will own about 56% of the merged company.

ASTM International is accepting papers for its newest journal, Smart and Sustainable Manufacturing Systems, which will launch January 2017. SSMS Editor-in-Chief Dr. Sudarsan Rachuri has recruited more than 50 top global experts from academia and industry to serve as editors and advisors for the new journal. Group welcomes research papers, industry case studies, industry application papers, survey papers, and technical notes.

ASTM International's newest journal, Smart and Sustainable Manufacturing Systems (SSMS), is currently accepting papers. Due to launch in January 2017, this journal will be managed by SSMS Editor-in-Chief Dr. Sudarsan Rachuri. Topics of interest for papers include those "at the intersection of manufacturing science, information science and data science,” as noted by Rachuri. Research papers, industry case studies, industry application papers, survey papers, and technical notes are welcome.

The Wall Street Journal: United Tech expects Pratt & Whitney Canada to post $870 million charge

United Technologies Corp. said it expects its Pratt & Whitney Canada business to post a pretax charge of roughly $870 million for the fourth quarter, tied to changes in royalty agreements with the Canadian government. The company will make four annual payments starting this month in an accord to end paying royalties based on future engine deliveries and sales to Canadian federal and provincial government agencies, according to a regulatory filing.
