Honeywell International, Inc. also showed investors what it made of the second quarter and results were robust, despite currency headwinds: Second quarter revenues declined 5% to $9.8 billion from $10.3 billion in the year ago quarter, partly due to the influence of currency fluctuations, but they grew 3% on an organic basis, which is all that really matters.

The industrial supply company now expects 2015 per-share earnings of $12 to $12.50, down from a prior outlook for $12.25 to $12.95, and flat to 2% sales growth vs. previous guidance for 1% to 4% growth. "Despite continued softness in sales and gross profit margins from a tough industrial economy , we continue to invest for the long term while driving significant productivity to fund growth and infrastructure investments and reduce overall margin pressure," Chairman and CEO Jim Ryan said in a statement.

The shares rose 2.45% to $107.80 after the closing bell following the unveiling of better-than-expected fiscal fourth-quarter financial results that topped estimates as new products helped strong sales in North America. Net income rose to $865 million, or 98 cents a share, from $698 million, or 78 cents, a year earlier, the Beaverton, Oregon-based company said Thursday in a statement.
