Scattering And Radar Cross Section

2015-08-03 12:38:12| rfglobalnet Home Page

An object’s scattering properties are described as the special distribution of scattered energy when it is exposed to incident electromagnetic fields, and is measured by radar cross section (RCS). Depending on the object’s shape, size, and material characteristics, the incident fields can be reflected, absorbed by the object, or scattered into multiple directions. The FEKO software has the ability to differentiate incident from reflected electromagnetic field components, and is well suited for scattering and RCS computations.

Overcoming Light Scattering: Single-pixel Optical System Uses Compressive Sensing to See ...

2014-07-02 06:00:00| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today

Optical imaging methods are rapidly becoming essential tools in biomedical science because they’re noninvasive, cost-efficient, and pose no health risks since they don't use ionizing radiation. Team of researchers from Spain's Jaume I University and the University of València has developed single-pixel optical system based on compressive sensing that can overcome fundamental limitations imposed by light scattering. Work was published in The Optical Society’s open-access journal Optics ...This story is related to the following:Trade Associations

Fur and Feathers Keep Animals Warm by Scattering Light

2014-01-23 06:00:00| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today

In work that has major implications for improving performance of building insulation, scientists at the University of Namur in Belgium and the University of Hassan I in Morocco have calculated that hairs that reflect IR light may contribute insulating power to exceptionally warm winter coats of polar bears and other animals. Paper titled "Radiative contribution to the thermal conductance in animal furs and other wooly insulators," was published in OSA's Optics Express open-access journal.
