The Food and Drug Administration will ask a panel of experts later this week whether a bold-letter warning on the anti-smoking drug Chantix should be removed based on company-supported evidence that the drug does not cause suicidal behaviour. Pfizer's twice-a-day tablet has carried the FDA strongest warning label, known as a black box, since 2009 because of reports of suicidality, hostility and depression.

New government-approved labeling on Pfizer's drug Chantix suggests that the anti-smoking medication may not carry the risks of suicidal behaviour that first earned it the Food and Drug Administration's strongest warning more than five years ago. The FDA updated the drug's label Monday to include data from a number of recent studies that found little to no evidence of psychiatric problems or suicidal tendencies in patients taking the twice-a-day tablet.

Woman commits suicide by jumping into crocodile pit

A woman in Thailand committed suicide by throwing herself into a pit of crocodiles at a reptile farm popular with tourists. The farm outside Bangkok doubles as a zoo and draws visitors who can feed the crocodiles from a walkway, according to Agence France-Presse.

Boulder coroner: Kansas man found dead on Longs Peak committed suicide
