International Business Times: Some areas of Australia's cities will be up to 3.7 degrees hotter by 2050 due to the growth of urbanisation according to new research data. Australia will experience the "urban heat island effect" in which temperatures will rise in built-up areas with more asphalt and concrete. Australia's NBN Co meets revised roll-out target

(Telecompaper) The Australian company rolling out the National Broadband Network, NBN Co, has met its revised rollout targets for the financial year ended 30 June. The company's fibre network passed 207,500 premises, meeting the target of 190,000 to 220,000 premises passed. The company also covered 27,300 premises with fixed-wireless services and 250,000 premises with satellite services, bringing the total premises passed by the network to 484,800. NBN Co also reported a more than fourfold increase in the total number of end-users over the past twelve months and a sevenfold increase in fibre users. The total number of activated premises reached 70,100, which includes 33,600 fibre users, 1,900 fixed-wireless users, and 34,600 satellite users.
