Alcatel-Lucent Signs CNY8.1 Billion Framework Agreements With China Mobile, China Unicom

According to the agreements, Alcatel-Lucent will support the transformation of the two carriers and help them build faster and more cost-effective nationwide mobile and fixed broadband networks. The annual agreement signed between Alcatel-Lucent and China Mobile is valued at CNY4.53 billion, which is about EUR656 million; and the one signed with China Unicom is valued at CNY3.59 billion, which is about EUR520 million.

Alcatel inks frame agreements with China Mobile, Unicom

(Telecompaper) Alcatel-Lucent said it has signed comprehensive frame agreements with China Mobile and China Unicom to facilitate the transition to dynamic cloud-based networks in China. Under the one year agreements valued at up to CNY 4.53 billion (China Mobile) and CNY 3.59 billion (China Unicom), Alcatel-Lucent will deliver its mobile and fixed ultra-broadband access, IP routing, agile optical networking and network functions virtualization (NFV) capabilities, as well as Nuage Networks' software defined networking (SDN) technologies. The deployments will also support China Mobile and China Unicom in meeting commitments to the 'Broadband China' initiative which aims to see full broadband coverage across the nation's rural and urban areas by 2020.
