Ice Group sells Nextel stake, to de-merge international ops to concentrate on Scandinavia

(Telecompaper) Ice Group said it has accepted an offer to sell its 30 percent ownership share in Nextel Holdings for USD 70 million to AI Media Holdings (Access Industries) and plans to de-merge its international businesses in favour of a more focused approach to its future operations. After the de-merger, Ice Group proposes for all AINMT Holdings shareholders to convert their shares to the N:OTC-listed Ice Group AS vehicle, which will own 100 percent of the Scandinavian businesses after the restructuring.

Telia sells Spotify stake with 2.4x return on purchase price

(Telecompaper) Telia Company said that it has gradually divested its entire holding in Spotify to institutional investors for USD 272 million or approximately SEK 2.3 billion, ahead of the streaming music company's listing on the stock market. This is equivalent to a return on investment of approximately 2.4 times. Telia invested USD 115 million in Spotify for a 1.4 percent stake in June 2015, after having begun to include Spotify Premium in its services in October 2009.

Vivendi sells entire stake in Ubisoft for EUR 2 bln

(Telecompaper) Vivendi has announced that it has entered into agreements to sell its 27.27 percent stake in games developer Ubisoft, amounting to 30,489,300 shares, for EUR 2 billion. This interest was acquired over the past three years for EUR 794 million. As part of the deal, Vivendi will no longer be a Ubisoft shareholder and has committed to refrain from purchasing Ubisoft shares for a period of five years. The move follows speculation last year that the company could face a possible hostile bid from Vivendi, despite opposition from the Guillemot family (founder and minority shareholder of Ubisoft).

Airtel sells stake in DTH unit to Warburg Pincus for USD 350 million

(Telecompaper) Bharti Airtel announced that an affiliate of private equity firm Warburg Pincus will acquire a stake of up to 20 percent in Bharti Telemedia, the DTH arm of Airtel. The acquisition price reaches around USD 350 million. Of this, a 15 percent stake will be sold by Bharti Airtel and the balance by another Bharti entity which holds 5 percent.
